Where to get mastectomy bras

By Racquel Quieta

Mastectomy is a surgical procedure performed by removing breast tissue from a woman's breast. It is done to treat patients with early-stage breast cancer.

However, in the wake of the surgery, the woman's chest would become uneven especially if only one breast tissue was removed. Hence, breast cancer patients or survivors who have undergone this procedure, would need mastectomy bras to address the problem.

Mastectomy bras have pockets inside them where women can put a prosthesis or a bra insert, to create a more natural-looking shape for their breasts.

Fortunately, several lingerie brands and e-commerce platforms have made mastectomy bras more accessible for "pink sisters," or breast cancer patients and survivors.

If you're one of the thousands of pink sisters looking for new mastectomy bras, check out the list of brands and e-commerce platforms below.

Avon

The popular direct-selling company Avon has recently launched the Empower Bra, their first-ever mastectomy bra, as part of their breast cancer awareness efforts. It comes with a prosthesis made of 3D PU foam, designed to fit your cup size.

Moreover, for each Empower Bra sold, P50 will go to the Philippine Cancer Society, the company's partner in their efforts to help breast cancer patients at the Avon-PGH Breast Cancer Clinic.
