LOOK: PBA star Marc Pingris puts fancy BMW motorcycle for sale

By Bong Godinez

Basketball star Marc Pingris is selling his 2019 BMW S 1000 XR.

The six-foot-four power forward from the Magnolia Hotshots in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) made the announcement on Instagram.

“For sale! 2019 xr1000 dm me thanks!” Marc briefly wrote as caption.

The husband of actress Danica Sotto posted five pictures of the motorcycle, giving prospective buyers a good look on the condition and appearance of the two-wheeled road machine.

The 2019 BMW S1000 XR, according to reviews, is a sport and adventure motorcycle that features four-cylinder series motor, agile chassis, and great suspension to ensure efficiency and stability.

Some of Marc's Instagram followers teased him while hinting at the possibility of an upgrade to a fancier motorcycle.

“Ayun na!!!” Oyo Boy Sotto, Marc's brother-in-law enthused.

Other comments said, “Upgrade na idol?” “Magpapalit ka na idol ng bike,” and “Gs1250 sure na,” referring to the sleeker BMW R 1250 GS Adventure.

BIG TOYS

Marc is a motorcycle and car enthusiast and owns an impressive (and expensive) fleet of vehicles.

Just some of the models that he showed off in the past include a customized Ducati Scrambler, Isuzu D-Max, and a Dodge Challenger.

Last December, Marc joined the PBA Moto Club - a group of professional hoop players who are motorcycle enthusiasts and loves to go around on their two-wheels - in their Laguna road trip.

Other PBA stars who are part of the group are Rico Maierhofer, Jayjay Helterbrand, and KG Canaleta.

“Salamat naman napaunlakan mo kami! Sa tagal mong gustong sumama,” Rico said, warmly welcoming Marc into the fold.

LIFELONG CYCLIST

The fierce rebounder and three-time Defensive Player of the Year is also an avid bicycle rider.

Riding a bike is not a new thing for Marc. In fact, bicycle was his first love before discovering his passion for motorcycles.

Growing up poor in the sleepy province of Pozorrubio in Pangasinan, a young Marc would pedal his way around town to sell ice buko or coconut popsicle for a few cash to help his family.

Not much has changed apparently.

Today, it's not unusual to see Marc traveling from his house in Pasig to the gym for team practices on his mountain bike.

“May mga time lang na darating talaga ako sa practice ng naka-bike. Siyempre, mausok din sa kalsada at tsaka mainit,” Marc told Spin.ph in 2016.

“Minsan kasi bugbog na rin yung tuhod mo. Jogging, tapos takbo pa sa ensayo. At least kung bike, maiba naman.”

His coach - multi-titled bench tactician Tim Cone - though is not a fan of seeing his key player reporting to work on a bicycle especially during crucial stretches of the PBA season.

“Sabi niya sa akin pagdating, 'Marc, what are you doing?' Tapos sunud-sunod na 'yung paalala niya na baka maaksidente ako, baka mapilayan ako, eh finals pa naman,” Marc recalled during the same interview.

“Siyempre, naiitindihan ko naman 'yung concerns ni Coach. Kaya naman always may protective gears ka like helmet, face mask, leggings, tsaka iba pa.”

Marc is just one of the many celebrities who are passionate about motorcycles. Here are some of them:
