Things are ramping up for current reigning Miss World Philippines Gwendolyne Fourniol as the country's representative to the Miss World pageant recently shared her introduction video for the international pageant set to be held next month.
In one of the more recent posts on her Instagram account, Gwendolyne uploaded an almost two-minute video introducing herself to the Miss World competition. In the video, she highlighted being the product of a multicultural household, owing to being the child of a Filipina mother and a French father. She also shared her musical talents, her time in the UK Army Cadet Force, and her pride at the creativity and artistry of Filipinos.
Gwendolyne also emphasized that her participation in the Miss World pageant is a “dream turned into reality” as it allows her to share not just her mother's story but the story of the ERDA Foundation, a non-government organization that was founded in 1974 and “envisions a nation where all children and youth have access to quality education and holistic development in a supportive environment for them to have a better life.”.
In the caption to the post, Gwendolyne called on her Instagram followers and Filipino pageant fans to visit her profile on the Miss World website, which not just features her introduction video but blog posts written by Gwendolyne herself.
Gwendolyne's introduction video comes after the debut of her official headshoton the Miss World website. She also posted the photo on her official Instagram account, writing in the captions that there is only a week left before she starts her Miss World pageant journey.
Gwendolyne has been Miss World Philippines since she was crowned in June 2022. She was set to compete in the Miss World pageant back in December 16, 2023 when it was first scheduled at the ICC Delhi India. However, the Miss World organization rescheduled the pageant due to elections that were happening in India at the time. The pageant final is now set to be held on March 9, 2024 at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai, India.
Just like she shared in her introduction vide, Gwendolyne has been deep in advocacy work in the lead up to the Miss World pageant. Last year, she began the Shoebox Christmas gift drive for the benefit of ERDA Foundation. The gift drive lasted until December 22.
She also spent Christmas Eve with disadvantaged children from the ERDA Foundation, writing on Instagram that it was a joy to witness how the foundation's beneficiaries have grown up through the years.
Gwendolyne has also been raising funds for the ERDA Foundation's future Learning Hub in Baseco, Tondo. In January of last year, Gwendolyne also conducted an ocular inspection of the 25 square meter lot that will be housing the ERDA Foundation's Learning Hub.
