The competition is definitely getting closer and closer for current reigning Miss World Philippines Gwendolyne Fourniol as she shared her official Miss World headshot to her fans and social media followers.
In one of the more recent posts on her Instagram account, Gwendolyne uploaded two photos of herself. One is a headshot while the other is a full body photo of her wearing a light blue gown. In the caption to the post, she explained that this is her official headshot uploaded onto the Miss World website, and that there is only a week left before she starts her Miss World pageant journey.
Gwendolyne, who was first crowned Miss World Philippines back in June 2022, has been waiting to compete in the Miss World pageant for more than a year now. While pageant organizers had initially announced that the Miss World finals would be held on December 16, 2023 at the ICC Delhi India, the Miss World organization rescheduled it to March 2, 2024 in response to elections that were happening in India at the time.
In the lead-up to the pageant, Gwendolyne has been deep in advocacy work, spending the holiday season last year advocating for disadvantaged children. In November, she began the Shoebox Christmas gift drive for the benefit of ERDA Foundation. The gift drive lasted until December 22.
She also spent Christmas Eve with disadvantaged children from the ERDA Foundation, a non-government organization that was founded in 1974 and “envisions a nation where all children and youth have access to quality education and holistic development in a supportive environment for them to have a better life.”
In the caption to the post, Gwendolyne also expressed how it was a joy to witness how the foundation's beneficiaries have grown up through the years.
This isn't Gwendolyne's first time with the children of ERDA Foundation either, as she also spent Christmas Day with ERDA Foundation beneficiaries and distributed gifts to them back in 2022.
Gwendolyne also spent 2022 wrapping up school supplies that she collected for the foundation, an experience that she described as “enlightening”.
Gwendolyn has also been raising funds for the ERDA Foundation's future Learning Hub (https://www.gmanetwork.com/entertainment/celebritylife/news/97164/miss-world-ph-gwendolyne-fourniol-visits-the-site-of-future-learning-hub/story) in Baseco, Tondo. In January of last year, Gwendolyne also conducted an ocular inspection of the 25 square meter lot that will be housing the ERDA Foundation's Learning Hub.
