There is just a little over two weeks until the Miss World coronation night at ICC Delhi India on December 16, but Miss World Philippines Gwendolyne Fourniol still has her advocacies in the forefront as she calls on her followers to donate for the benefit of disadvantaged kids.
In one of the more recent posts on her Instagram account, Gwendolyne posted a number of images for her Shoebox Christmas gift drive for the benefit of ERDA Foundation, a non-government organization that was founded in 1974 and “envisions a nation where all children and youth have access to quality education and holistic development in a supportive environment for them to have a better life.”
The images instruct how interested donors can participate in the Shoebox Christmas gift drive. All they need to do is simply fill up a shoebox either with school supplies for primary and intermediate elementary students or filling it up with pre-loved toys. The gift drive is open until December 22.
The gift drive is part of Gwendolyne's initiative, #BridgeTheGapBuildTheFuture. Which seeks to raise funds and provide resources for the ERDA Foundation. During the holiday season last year, she spent Christmas Day with ERDA Foundation beneficiaries and distributed gifts to them.
The previous year also saw Gwendolyne wrap up school supplies that she collected for the foundation, an experience that she described as “enlightening”.
Gwendolyn has also been raising funds for the ERDA Foundation's future Learning Hub in Baseco, Tondo, recently signing a memorandum of agreement for the learning hub she is helping to build.
At the start of this year, Gwendolyne also conducted an ocular inspection of the 25 square meter lot that will be housing the ERDA Foundation's Learning Hub.
