Heart Evangelista gets emotional as she rescues dogs from Sorsogon city pound
Kapuso star Heart Evangelista rescued several impounded dogs in Sorsogon's city pound, on Friday, July 10.
Heart quickly went to the city pound when she learned her follower's plea to help his elderly neighbor's dog that had been picked by Sorsogon City animal pound.
“Miss Heart Evangelista, baka po pwede n'yo matulungan ang aso po ng neighbor namin. Nakuha po kasi siya ng Sorsogon City animal pound. Wala po pantubos 'yung owner at matanda na rin po siya. Buntis po yung dog and may inborn broken leg po siya. Kawawa naman po siya kung ma-euthanized po ng animal pound,” says her follower with the handle adrienne1994.
Heart immediately replied to his plea and said, “Reply to my DM (direct message) please. This is urgent.”
Today, July 10, Heart gladly shared with her followers that she has rescued the said dog and a few more from being euthanized.
“So I had to go to the city pound to help someone get their dog. This is hell for me. I hope most of you will start adopting dogs. All breeds are beautiful. They have the same heart,” she said.
She also asked the public to help her foster and save stray dogs.
“I am aware that I can't change certain systems nor can I save the world but we can help save a life. One dog at a time. Help me foster. Help them. Save them. One by one.
“I got four dogs. Fostering them 'til I can find a home (home - means no cage, not tied to some tree - a real home. A real dog lover.)
Heart's pet dogs are stray dogs that she adopted from different parts of the country.

The Queen of Creative Collaborations is not only an advocate of adopting animals but she's also the celebrity spokesperson for the Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) a non-government organization whose goal is to prevent animal cruelty in the Philippines.
In fact, after the Taal volcano explosion, Heart joined PAWS's rescue mission by bringing food and water to hungry animals affected in the surrounding area of the volcano.
