Cinderella is one of those classic fairytales that have been adapted so many times over the last few centuries in different art forms and platforms such as ballet, theatre, film and television.
But this year, Sony Pictures Entertainment promises to deliver a live-action movie remake that is unconventional, new, bold, and musically driven.
For starters, the celebrity they enlisted to portray Cinderella is Cuban-American singer-songwriter Camila Cabello--and no, she didn't dye her hair blonde for the film.
The "Señorita" singer just shared the teaser for the upcoming Cinderella remake on Twitter.
She captioned it: “#CinderellaMovie this was one of the most magical experiences of my life. I can't wait for you to see it. out on @amazonprimevideo September 3! @Cinderella.”

In the 30-second teaser, Camila can be seen with long braided dark hair, a huge deviation from the traditional depiction of Cinderella as a woman with blonde hair.
In the remake, Cinderella is portrayed as an aspiring dressmaker.
In the opening of the teaser, Camila can be heard saying, “This is it. Soon everyone will know my name. Dresses by Ella. Life outside this basement starts now.”

Camila can then be heard singing as a montage of videos is shown.
The lyrics of the song goes as follows: “If it's a million to one, I'm going to be that one. You're gonna know my name. You're gonna know my name."
Aside from Camila, her genderless godparent named, Fab G, played by Billy Porter, also appears in the teaser clad in a shiny yellow ball gown.
Billy's character asks Cinderella, “Do you want to go to that ball?”
Then Cinderella replies, “Yes, I was just crying and singing about it two minutes ago.”

We also get a quick glimpse of actor Nicholas Galitzine as Cinderella's Prince Robert.
Other celebrities who are part of the film's star-studded cast are Idina Menzel (Cinderella's stepmother), Pierce Brosnan (King Rowan), Minnie Driver (Queen Beatrice), John Mulaney (Footman/mouse), James Corden (Footman/mouse), and Missy Elliott (Town Crier).

The film remake is directed by Kay Cannon, who wrote and produced the Pitch Perfect movie series.
They finished shooting in late 2020 and was originally scheduled for a February 2021 release.
But as announced in the teaser, the release date has been moved to September 3 on Amazon Prime.
