Kylie Verzosa chosen as part of the Miss Universe Bahrain council

By Ron Lim

Pageant fans have yet another pageant to keep an eye on as Miss Universe Bahrain has just announced the members of its official council, which will include former Miss International Kylie Verzosa.

On the official Miss Universe Bahrain Instagram account, Kylie was announced as part of the pageant's official council as its head of empowerment. She will be joining Josh Yugen and Furne Amato, who will be serving as national director and creative director, respectively.

Other members of the council include Dr. Sara Alamadani as head of culture, tourism, and arts; Afaf Meky as head of charity and philanthropy, and Ian Borromeo and Kylie Go as head of partnerships and business development.

As of the moment, the Miss Universe Bahrain Organization has not revealed when the next pageant is going to be held, having just opened for applicants last month. Those who want to apply have to be 18 to 28 years old, single, a Bahraini passport holder, and “beautifully confident.”

Miss Universe Bahrain had crowned its very first queen and representative to the Miss Universe pageant, Manar Nadeem Deyani, last year. A feature on Gulf News described her as “first Bahraini woman to represent her country at the Miss Universe pageant” and possibly “one of the shortest women to have been picked for the global beauty contest.”

The group organizing Miss Universe Bahrain shares a lot of its members with the group that tried to organize Miss Universe United Arab Emirates (UAE). Both Josh Yugen and Furne Amato were part of the Miss Universe UAE council, with Maggie Wilson included as a creative consultant. However, what would have been the first Miss Universe UAE pageant did not push through and was canceled due to “time constraints,” according to a report from Al Arabiya News.

The last three posts on the Miss Universe UAE Instagram account were made almost a year ago and are announcements of 25 of the 30 participating contestants.
