Beatrice Luigi Gomez

What should have been a week of celebration from Miss Universe Philippines 2021 Beatrice Luigi Gomez quickly turned into something more sober as soon as Typhoon Odette hit the country.

Rather than entertain media interviews, Beatrice had to endure seeing things turn “ghastly” for her family in Cebu, who were trapped in their home when Typhoon Odette struck the province. Since then, both she and the Miss Universe Philippines Organization have championed efforts to bring relief to the typhoon-devastated areas.

For instance, the organization launched a relief initiative in partnership with remittance app Sendwave, promising to match any donations made on the app. Beatrice, while still in quarantine, promised to go to Cebu as soon as she is able and called on her social media followers to support relief efforts by Save the Children, the Simply Share Foundation, and the Naval Reserve Center of Eastern Visayas.

With her time in quarantine now over, Beatrice is making good on her promise and shared on Instagram the relief efforts she took part in for those stranded in Cebu City ports. Check the images in the gallery below.
