Catriona Gray is spending her mother's birthday together with her family after years of not meeting face to face.
Former Miss Universe Catriona Gray wants her mother's special day to be special, and she's taken to Instagram to make sure that it is.
In her latest post, Catriona posted a photo of her mother, Mita Gray, at Singapore's Gardens by the Bay. In the caption, Catriona expressed her gratitude at finally being able to celebrate her mother's birthday in person, instead of the “years of only birthday cards and flowers to bridge the distance” caused by the global coronavirus pandemic.
Catriona also expressed her hope that this year's celebration “surrounded by flowers, eating good food, laughing and exploring” is a good sign of the coming years ahead.
Just last month, it was her father that Catriona was celebrating on her Instagram account, greeting him a happy Father's Day and calling him her “real-life superman.” She also extended a greeting to the “dads, father figures and fur-dads out there!”
Catriona isn't the only beauty pageant titleholder to use Instagram as a way to shout out their parents. Current reigning Miss World Philippines Gwendolyne Fourniol also greeted her mother a happy birthday on the social media site, thanking her mother for teaching her “the meaning of compassion” and “showing her the way” during times when she was uncertain.
During Father's Day last month, Miss Universe Philippines 2022 Celeste Cortesi also took to Instagram to remember her father who passed, posting a photo of a black butterfly on her hand.
Rabiya Mateo also took Father's Day as an opportunity to greet a father figure in her life. She expressed her appreciation for her mother, saying that she could only wish to have half of her mother's “wisdom, maturity, and mental prowess.”
The winners of the Miss Universe Philippines 2022 pageant also collectively paid tribute to the mothers and parent figures in their lives back in May, sharing what is “uniquely beautiful" about them.
