Another superhero is causing a stir in town - Fantastic Man! Playing the title role in GMA’s newest fantasy series is Mark Herras. Tagged as the newest bad boy of show business, Mark will try to redeem himself by saving the world! Text by Loretta Ramirez-Rotor Fantastic Man is Mark’s first solo project and admittedly, he feels the pressure of being on the spot especially since he is attempting to equal that of the original Fantastikman, Vic Sotto. Although it is evident that he is enjoying the role and the attention being given to the project, he is definitely serious about making an impression on TV. “Ngayon lang ako nagkaroon ng sariling show pero siyempre ito yung parang isa sa pinaka mabigat na trabaho and sobrang pressured po ako,” admits Mark. The heat is indeed on as the task of making a name for himself as the newest super hero in town and differentiating from the audience Fantasticman from Fantastikman. He acquiesces that if ever he has some questions regarding his character, he would most definitely consult the original Fantastikman, Bossing himself. A blockbuster film, Mark hopes to gain as much followers as he can for his series and needs all the support from his director and co-cast members. Directed by Zoren Legaspi, the series is expected to be something different from the movie. “Familiar naman ang lahat sa Fantastikman ni Vic Sotto, ang kaibahan lang nito, itra-trace natin kung paano sya naging Fantastic Man (and) kung ano talaga ang true nature niya,” says Direk Zoren. The Series Just like the movies that were given a new life on the television, Fantastic Man will have basically the same storyline. But this time, the TV series will present Fantastic Man’s history and introduce us to his family together with the new characters of the series to an audience of old and new fans. Direk Zoren confided to us that this fantasy series will indeed be different from the previous super heroes of GMA. “Quality na special effects ang ginamit namin dito, hindi yung minadaling special effects. Mas pulido pa sa Fantastikids at kahit sa soap hindi pa ito nakikita,” brags Direk Zoren. He adds that he made sure that this project is different. “Kaya nga ako nagmukhang matanda, eh! Kakaisip, eh! (laughs) I made sure na bawat episode, bawat project ko, I made sure it’s different. Pero nandun pa rin yung touch nung style ng Zoren Legaspi.” Composed of top-caliber actors and actresses such as Ariel Rivera, Joey Marquez, Paolo Contis, Benjie Paras, Keempee de Leon, Jackie Rice and Ryza Cenon, the story will have unexpected twists and turn that will add to the mystery of the original story of movie. A Fantastic Adventure There will definitely be traces of the original Fantastikman especially in the light and comedic moments of the series but the elements of drama, suspense, romance, and yes, adventure are all integrated to create a different feel of how it is to be the new Fantastic Man! With enhanced powers and more room to experiment, Mark is given a free hand to establish himself as the newest super hero to save the world. Of course, it is also exciting to guess who will capture our superhero’s heart. Plus we will be introduced to a host of villains with different powers that will guarantee to give Fantastic Man a hard time. “Hindi ko naman kayo iinfluence manood eh. Hintayin niyo yung trailer, and our work will speak for ourselves. Makikita niyo naman sa trailer kung panonoorin niyo o hindi,” says Direk Zoren confidently.
