Up to 25 houses were razed by a fire that hit a community by the sea in Catbalogan City, Samar.
The fire broke out near the seawall in Barangay 3 afternoon on Friday, June 5, 2026.
The fire station received the alarm at 1:30 p.m. and the fire reached second alarm before it was placed under control at 2:35 p.m.
Because the area is accessible only through a narrow road, firefighters had to connect their hoses so water can reach the fire.
Residents also helped by forming a so-called bucket brigade.
Jun Gil Tagorino, chief of the Catbalogan CDRRMO, said the fire also damaged part of the barangay hall.
