Alden Richards stresses the effectiveness of 'BIDA Solusyon' against COVID-19

Kapuso actor Alden Richards serves as the newest ambassador of the Department of Health's (DOH) communication campaign against 2019 coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

Dubbed as “BIDA Solusyon,” the campaign promotes the practice of preventive health measures against the contagious disease.

In an exclusive interview with GMANetwork.com on Friday, July 24, the Asia's Multimedia Star shared that he is honored to be part of the initiative that aims to disseminate right information to the public.

“I'm really honored to be part of this campaign. I'm really happy.

"'Yun ding 'yung sinasabi ko sa team ko before, na sana magkaroon tayo ng partnership na magiging relevant 'yung presence ng GMA artist para ma-promote ang awareness against the fight for COVID-19,” he said.

When asked on how the campaign will help the country fight the disease, Alden stressed that the acronym “BIDA” is effective for recalling the strict protocols to prevent the virus transmission.

“Kasi basic siya, e, ang dali namang tandaan.

"Tayong mga Filipino, we're very into teleseryes, ganyan, may bida, may kontrabida.

"Napakadaling tandaan ng 'BIDA Solusyon' acronym.

“So, B - bawal ang walang mask kapag lumalabas.

"Letter I - i-sanitize ang mga bagay at iwas hawak sa mga bagay sa labas.

"Kapag hindi maiwasan lumabas ng mga Kapuso natin, they can always wear a mask and protective gloves.

“Letter D - dumistansiya ng one meter to other people and that's physical distancing na pino-promote naman talaga ng DOH ever since the COVID-19 started.

“Lastly, A, - alamin ang tamang impormasyon. With social media now, sobrang dali ng access sa information.

"And isang misinformation about a certain issue that comes out and people believe it kahit hindi totoo, automatically, damay-damay na lahat 'yan,” he explained.

Alden then advised the public that with the proliferation of misinformation and fake news on social media today, they should seek information from verified institutions only.

“Ang dali ng access sa fake news ngayon, so it's really important for us to remember na we always have to rely on official institutions na makapag-announce ng mga bagay hinggil sa pagprotekta sa atin at 'yung laban natin sa COVID-19,” he said.

BIDA Solusyon campaign is a joint initiative of the Department of Health, United States Agency for International Development (USAID), Laging Handa Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF), and National Task Force on COVID-19.
