There's now more time for women looking to fulfill their pageant dreams to do so as the Miss World Philippines organization has just announced it has extended its application deadline.
The Miss World Philippines organization made the announcement on their official Instagram account, putting up a graphic featuring the new application deadline. In the caption to the post, the organization called the extension the potential candidates' “chance to step into the spotlight and showcase your beauty, intelligence, and grace on the prestigious stage of Miss World Philippines.” The organization also added that screenings for the Miss World Philippines pageant will be held at the end of this month.
The Miss World Philippines organization first opened applications last month, calling on women to “embrace” their “crown” and “make a positive impact on the world”. The initial deadline for applications was until April 12, 2024, with the Miss World Philippines finals held in June of this year.
Successful applicants will take over from current reigning Miss World Philippines Gwendolyne Fourniol, who ended her Miss World pageant journey outside of the top 40. On her Instagram account, Gwendolyne shared her gratitude for the support sent her way after her Miss World performance.
“My eyes are swelling with tears trying to hold it all in so the world can see a brave woman who gave her all,” she wrote. “But like any human being, I think it is normal to admit that it is okay to be vulnerable, it is okay to be hurt, it is okay to be in shock and question myself and my capabilities.”
While she did not make it to the top 40 of the Miss World pageant, Gwendolyne placed in the Top 20 of the Top Model Challenge alongside delegates from Brazil, Canada, Dominican Republic, Martinique, Peru, Botswana, Ghana, Nigeria, South Africa, Togo, Belgium, Czech Republic, France, Scotland, Slovakia, India, Indonesia, Lebanon, and Turkey.
Gwendolyne also placed in the Top 25 of the Miss World Head to Head Challenge. Eventually winning the Miss World Head to Head Challenge were the delegates from Nigeria, Zimbabwe, Lebanon, England, and Botswana.
