Rock on with 'Rak of Aegis' star Aicelle Santos

2014 was a phenomenal year for Sunday All Stars diva Aicelle Santos. Get to know her more and find out her plans after winning the coveted Aliw Awards for Best Actress in a Musical.

How did you feel after winning the Aliw award?

“It was unexpected really. Kasi sa totoo lang, I’m still learning to act. So to be recognized as Best Actress for musical ay napakalaking karangalan. Siyempre it’s a motivation for me to be better sa acting.”

How does performing in a musical differ from singing in a show?

“Sobrang magkaiba po talaga. When I sing before, very particular sa style. Kung gaano kaganda ‘yung magiging tunog. Ngayon, now that I’m in musical, mas nagkukuwento na. Even when I’m singing, parang mayroon ng konting musical kasi you tend to really tell the story and relay the message of your song.”

Aicelle added, “So ‘yung musical siyempre iba siya. Kasi whole body experience din 'yan. [Mag]sasayaw ka din diyan, aarte at the same time. Ibang klase rin ‘yung training but I really learn dun sa akin[g] mga co-actors na napakahuhusay po.”

With this recognition, are you motivated to pursue a career as a stage actress abroad?

“Kung given a chance. Pero right now kasi ang sarap din mag-perform in front of your fellowmen, [the] Filipino audience. Kasi napakaganda talaga nung kuwento ng Rak of Aegis."

Make sure to catch Aicelle in her first solo concert happening on February 25 at the PETA Theater titled ‘Class A: Aicelle Santos in Concert.’
