Rocco Nacino spends 33rd birthday 'boosting the morale' of COVID-19 frontliners

By Jansen Ramos

Ever since he joined showbiz, Rocco Nacino has been celebrating his birthday at work. For some reason, his birthdays would always fall on a working day.

But this time, he chose to spend his 33rd birthday differently by taking part in the military's initiative of sending help to uniformed personnel who are frontliners of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) crisis.

As a sign of solidarity, he and his fellow Navy reservists and other officers gave food and drinks to soldiers who were on duty to help fight the spread of COVID-19.

His girlfriend, Melissa Gohing, also joined them in distributing the goods.

In an Instagram post, Rocco said that this was his way of "boosting the morale" of the frontliners.

Right after that, Rocco went back to their home in Pasig to celebrate his birthday with his family.

His family surprised him with a two-tier fondant cake that had military accents on it.

It signified Rocco's real-life role as a Navy reservist and his on-screen role as Technical Sgt Diego Ramos in Descendants of the Sun, hence the cammies colors: gray and green.

Rocco is a Petty Officer Third Class of the Philippine Navy Reserve Command.

He graduated from his basic civilian's military training last October 2019 after completing 15 sessions of rigorous training and lectures to become a fully-fledged Navy reservist.
