Angel Locsin explains why she posts her charity works on social media

By Dianara Alegre

Actress Angel Locsin has been receiving a lot of support with regard to her charity works for the country's medical frontliners amid the 2019 coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.

Although her efforts have made a huge impact, some were not impressed.

In one of her recent posts on Instagram, a netizen with the handle "pinoy_celebrities" raised his opinion regarding the matter.

He said, “I used to admire your efforts to do charity without it on social media as it's supposed to be. What happened? All I see is your non-stop posting on social media on every given opportunity. More power to you if that's how you want to be known now.”

To clear things out, Angel answered the netizen and explained why she had to post the development of her donation drive.

She replied, “Alam mo, kung pera ko, wala kang makikitang post. Pero kung fundraising, saan ka naman nakakita na hindi pinapaalam sa tao?”

Angel added, “What you're doing is not helping. Sayang 'yung energy at oras para malungkot at mag-explain pa e, ang daming ginagawa."

Through the actress' UniTENTWeStandPH initiative, she has distributed a number of tents used as sleeping quarters for medical frontliners in hospitals in Metro Manila ang nearby provinces. These tents have misting machines and UV light for faster and easier disinfection.

Furthermore, she's aiming to provide additional quarters for patients who need immediate treatments since most of the hospitals have reached their full capacity due to increasing coronavirus cases.
