More details emerge for 'The Pirates' sequel starring EXO's Sehun, Kwon Sang-woo and more

Upcoming period adventure film The Pirates: Goblin Flag boasts of a star-studded cast including EXO's Sehun, 2020 Baeksang Arts Awards Best TV Actor Kang Ha-neul and Stairway to Heaven leading man Kwon Sang-woo.

The cast was finalized with the confirmation of Sehun's participation on June 16.

Now, the film's distributor Lotte Entertainment has released more details about the upcoming movie.

South Korean news outlet The Fact reports that The Pirates: Goblin Flag will center on a group of people looking for the treasure hidden by the Goryeo royal family who disappeared after they were overthrown by the Joseon dynasty.

Actress Han Hyo-joo will play the pirate captain Hae-rang, while Park Ji-hwan will be Ah-gwi, the pirate sub-captain.

Sehun will be the pirate Han-goong who specializes in archery.

Lee Kwang-soo will be Mak-yi, a pirate who prefers to work alone.

Chae Soo-bin will play So-nyeo, a daring young woman who joins the pirate ship.

Kang Ha-neul will play righteous Goryeo army leader Woo Moo-chi, while Kim Sung-oh will play his right-hand man Kang-seob.

Kwon Sang-woo will be Boo Heung-soo, a man who races against the pirates to find the treasure himself.

The movie will begin filming this July.

The Pirates: Goblin Flag is the sequel of hit 2014 period adventure film The Pirates which starred Crash Landing on You actress Son Ye-jin.
