On June 25, Jon revealed that he previously tested positive for the disease when he underwent a rapid antibody-based test where he tested positive for COVID-19.

He then subjected himself to a swab test and fortunately tested negative for it.

Jon detailed his experiences with the disease and how he managed to survive the threatening situation on one of his recent Facebook posts.

“[Three] days ako nag stay sa NEGH (New Era General Hospital) .

He also admitted that he felt some symptoms associated with COVID-19 before his testing.

Fortunately, Jon was cleared to go home after the new results came out on the evening of June 24, 2020 that he is negative for COVID-19.

COVID-19 Testing: RT-PCR Test vs. Rapid Antibody-based Test

According to the Department of Health (DOH), the rapid antibody test determines the presence of an antibody after a person exhibits the symptoms. It provides a result with limited certainty and is not used to confirm the coronavirus disease.

This is why the DOH prefers the Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) Test because it determines the exact virus before a person show symptoms.
