Ronnie Liang gives free plane tickets to LSIs

Singer Ronnie Liang has been at the forefront of the nation's battle against the pandemic as an army reservist.

He is a witness to the daily struggles faced by locally stranded individuals (LSIs).

On July 29, prior to announcement of MECQ in Metro Manila, Ronnie decided to visit the LSIs at the Rizal Stadium and Army Gymnasium and to give free plane tickets to select families.

In a Facebook post, Ronnie said he could relate to these LSIs because he once experienced getting stranded, too.

"I know how it feels to be stranded," he said.

"Back when I was auditioning pa lang sa showbiz in Manila, naubusan ako ng pamasahe and kulang ung pambayad ko sa bus.

"I know the feeling na gusto mo na talagang umuwi pero wala kang pamasahe.

"When I saw them, nabasag ang puso ko and it reminded of the day na wala din akong pamasahe.

"Let us unite and help each other against Covid19.

Ronnie also mentioned in a statement, “As army reservist and concern Filipino, gusto ko talagang makatulong. That's really my purpose naman talaga kaya rin ako nag-join sa army--to help and serve people.

He also reiterated, "This is the time for us na magtulungan.

“Seeing our LSIs like that, it breaks my heart. And we have coronavirus pa to face as a nation.

As an army reservist, Ronnie will go back to service Metro Manila reverted to MECQ.

He told GMANetwork.com, "Dahil balik tayo sa MECQ, balik din ako checkpoint from North to South.

Also, sa mga locally stranded individuals na nasa Army Gymnasium, Libingan ng mga Bayani, and Rizal Stadium ay tinutulungan sila makabalik sa provinces nila.

Binibigyan namin ng plane tickets, pinapakain namin 3-4x a day, pinapagamot and providing hygiene kit.

Kami sa army, we make sure na nababantayan lahat."

"Hindi rin po ako nagiging kampante, I always boost my immune system, I take 2000 mg of vitamin C a day, I always find time para mag-exercise, and proper diet din talaga.

Recently, the Viva artist recorded tribute song “Awit Kawal” dedicated to soldiers killed by Sulu cops.

The song features soldiers' service and dedication to nation.
