Celebrities react on DOTS PH's first international award

By Jansen Ramos

Despite being on taping break, Descendants of the Sun (The Philippine Adaptation) continues to give honor to the country as the Kapuso series received its first-ever international award, the Most Popular Foreign Drama of the Year given by the 15th Seoul International Drama Awards.

Bagging this title from one of Asia's leading festivals makes the GMA program truly world-class, not to mention, it proves that it can be equal with popular big-budget foreign shows such as US's Snowpiercer and Italy's The New Pope.

Descendants of the Sun (The Philippine Adaptation) lead stars Dingdong Dantes and Jennylyn Mercado were quick to acknowledge this wonderful recognition from Seoul International Drama Awards

DOTS Ph's second male lead, Rocco Nacino, also expressed his sincerest congratulations to the program.

He said on his Instagram post, "Isang napakalaking karangalan para sakin na makasama ako sa proyekto na ito. Congratulations team #DotsPh! Salute! - Wolf."

Big names from the industry such as Marvin Agustin, Arnold Clavio, and Kim Atienza can't help but feel proud of their colleagues who are part of the romantic-action series.

Shaira Diaz, Marco Alcaraz, Marc Abaya, Bubbles Paraiso, and director Rico Gutierrez expressed support, as well.

Descendants of the Sun (The Philippine Adaptation) will be officially awarded as the Most Popular Foreign Drama of the Year, along with Snowpiercer and The New Pope, by the Seoul International Drama Awards on September 10 at the MBC Media Center Public Hall, without an audience.

The awards ceremony will be held via live streaming, and MBC's recording will air at 3 p.m. on September 15.

According to a press release by SDA Committee, "the organizing committee selected the Philippine version of Descendants of the Sun among several remakes that originated from the KBS drama" because it highlights "the influence of K-drama across borders."
