Dingdong Dantes hopes to launch delivery app this November, shares strategy to avoid delivery rider scam

With the exponential growth of online marketplaces, numerous delivery scams have been reported and gone viral on social media.

Proof of that is the recent incident that took place in Pilar Village, Las Piñas City. According to the September 16, 2020 report by GMA News Online, several online food delivery riders crowded in front of a house in the said village.

More than 10 delivery riders were swindled by a certain "AJ Pande" who used a food delivery service app to do the scheme. The house owner eventually filed a complaint with the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), citing that the owner did not know anyone named "AJ Pande."

Most delivery apps have cash on delivery type of transaction which allows the buyers to pay for their orders once they're delivered, prompting the scam.

This is an eye-opener for Dingdong Dantes who he is set to launch his own delivery app business, Dingdong PH, hopefully this November on app stores.

"Alam n'yo marami talagang walang puso na nagagawa 'yun para lang manloko ng kapwa. That's why 'yung mga safety measures talagang tina-tighten natin dito sa app," he intoned during his guesting with Jennylyn Mercado and Jasmine Curtis-Smith on GMA live chat Kapuso ArtisTambayan yesterday, October 22.

The actor/entrepreneur's team, composed of the country's best technology professionals, has prepared for it to avoid such inconvenience and to protect their riders as well.

According to Dingdong, their initial strategy is to present the app users with different payment options that fit the online business.

"One way really is to automate everything, especially the payment.

"So halimbawa um-order, we will make sure that we all have the possible payment gateways para do'n pa lang matapos na 'yung order mo, para ma-confirm na bayad na, ide-deliver na lang.

"Hindi 'yung pagdating [ng rider] do'n, hindi pala sa 'yo 'yung order tapos wala 'yung magbabayad, 'di ba," he shared.

Dingdong added that they're still on the stage of perfecting the app to be socially responsive as the demand for delivery services and home-made food products increases.

"Kasalukuyang pinapaganda pa para maging seamless pa 'yung customer experience so para kapag nag-order kayo, talagang walang kapalya-palya," Dingdong assured.

DingDong PH was born out of the Kapuso actor's desire to help Filipinos whose jobs have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, employing displaced workers of the entertainment industry as its riders.

Some of its partner merchants include Jennylyn Mercado's Litter Bucks, Nico Bolzico's Bolzico Beef, Matteo Guidicelli's family's Da Gianni Cucina Italiana Manila, Neri Miranda's Neri's Gourmet Tuyo, Isabelle Daza's FRNK Mik Bar, Joel Torre's JT's Manukan, and Neil Ryan Sese's K&G Seafood, among others.
