Celebrities including Sharon Cuneta and Sandy Andolong have sent their congratulatory messages for Gawad Urian Best Actress awardee Janine Gutierrez.
It's not only Janine Gutierrez and her closest family and friends who rejoiced because of her win as Best Actress for the film Babae at Baril at the recently concluded 43rd Gawad Urian Awards.
Several celebrities also lauded the Kapuso star for bagging the prestigious award including Sharon Cuneta, Sandy Andolong, Yayo Aguila, JC Santos, Martin del Rosario, and many more.
On social media, her mom, Lotlot de Leon and rumored boyfriend Rayver Cruz, also marked the milestone by expressing how proud they are of her.
Janine bested other Gawad Urian Best Actress nominees including Jean Garcia (Watch Me Kill), Kathyrn Bernardo (Hello, Love, Goodbye), Nadine Lustre (Ulan), Bella Padilla (Mañanita), the late Anita Linda (Circa), and Alessandra de Rossi (Lucid).
Babae at Baril clinched a total of six awards including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Cinematography, Best Editing, and Best Production Design.
In the movie, Janine plays the role of a saleslady at a local department store whose life drastically changed after finding a peculiar looking gun on her doorstep.
With the newfound “power,” she can do anything she wants, talk back to whoever she wants, and even hurt anyone she wants.
The award-winning film also stars actors Felix Roco, JC Santos, and Elijah Canlas.
Written and directed by Filipino director Rae Red, Babae at Baril first premiered at the QCinema International Film Festival in October 2019.
