Carla Abellana, Rafael Rosell win big at the 7th Face of the Year Awards in Vietnam

Love of My Life star Carla Abellana and actor Rafael Rosell were recognized at the 7th Face of the Year Awards in Vietnam, which took place at the Saigon Opera House last January 6.

The actress took home the Most Favorite Foreign Actress award while Rafael clinched the Most Favorite Foreign Actor distinction for their outstanding performance in the 2015 Kapuso romantic comedy series Because of You, which also bagged the Most Favorite Foreign Drama Series award.

Due to the travel restrictions brought about by the coronavirus pandemic, neither stars could attend the prestigious ceremony, but they still sent their acceptance speech through a video, which was played during the event.

Aside from his Vietnamese fans, the actor thanked GMA Network for allowing him to be part of Because of You.

“I didn't expect that I would win this so with that I would to say thank you. Thank you so much, GMA Network for this awesome opportunity and the biggest thank you, of course, goes to all who voted, to the hall of Vietnam, to all our netizens who voted thank you so much,” he said.

Carla, on the other hand, related to the audience the value of this recognition to her.

“Thank you so much to all of my Vietnamese fans, Filipino fans, and fans all over the world for voting for me online. I take this as a special milestone in my career,” she shared.

Ecstatic, the actress went on to share on social media her award.

This is not the first time Carla received this award. The sought-after Kapuso actress first earned the same distinction in 2016 for her drama 2014 drama series My Destiny.

Meanwhile, on Instagram, the director who helmed the series, Mark Reyes, congratulated Carla and Rafael, and the whole team behind the award-winning show.

“Our show 'Because Of You' (2016) recently won as Favorite Foreign Drama Series in Vietnam's Face of the Year Awards 2020.

"Also chosen as Favorite Foreign Actress and Actor are Carla Angeline Reyes Abellana and Rafael Rosell, respectively. Congrats team #becauseofyou! Gabby Concepcion #oldbutgold,” he wrote.
