“The Sun's Song” has recently announced its complete casting and its raising anticipation to many K-pop fans as it was announced that SHINee's Onew, DAY6's Wonpil, GOT7's Youngjae, and musical actor Jo-hoon would be playing the lead role.

In a post made by global content production company Shinswave, the main cast was announced through a series of posts, prompting excitement from fans worldwide.

It said, “'The Sun's Song' Cast. The romance that'll make your heart swoon is coming this May 2021. The first round of casting and launching posters are released.”

According to reports, the musical is a thrilling romance story about a girl named Hannah who meets a boy named Haram. Hannah suffers from Xeroderma Pigmentosum, a rare genetic condition that prevents her from going out into the sunlight.

When she meets Haram, she struggles to decide whether to tell him about her condition or pretend to live a normal life.

In the teaser poster of the first casting, fans can see a surfboard and guitar representing Haram and Hannah against the backdrop of a cool sea where clear skies and the sunset express the lovers' beauty.

Haram, who is described as the boy as dazzling as the midday sun, will be played by Onew, Wonpil, Youngjae, and Johoon. At the same time, Hannah's role, the girl who shines like a starlight at night, is played by Kang Hye-in, Lovelyz Kei, and Lee Ah-jin.

Following the announcement, a news report from Naver has said that global content producer Shinswave is planning to live stream the musical on its platform so audiences can enjoy it anytime, anywhere.

“The Sun's Song,” international name “Midnight Sun,” is originally a 2006 Japanese film directed by Norihiro Koizumi starring Japanese actress Yui and actor Takashi Tsukamoto. The film has been remade into a Hollywood flick starring Bella Thorne and Patrick Schwarzenegger in 2018.
