By Cara Emmeline Garcia

Legendary K-pop boy group Super Junior has returned to claim their throne as kings after releasing their latest studio album “The Renaissance” and its lead track “House Party” on Tuesday, March 16.

Since then, the group's album has been topping the charts all over the world as it shot to the top of iTunes charts in various countries across the globe, including the Philippines, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, the United Arab Emirates, Chile, Mexico, Singapore, Macau, India, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Indonesia, among others.

“The Renaissance” also topped the music charts in China including QQ Music, KuGou Music, and Kuwo Music's Digital Album Sales Chart.

Since marking their return, Super Junior has been closely promoting their new album on various news and media platforms starting with their press conference that was held on March 16.

During the press conference, the group openly spoke about their longevity in the music industry and how working on the new album marks their “rebirth” in the K-pop industry.

Leader Leeteuk said, as reported by Soompi.com, “The dictionary definition of 'Renaissance' is the revival or reincarnation of art and literature. It's resurrecting the classics and showing a new kind of movement.

“With this album, we're going to greet you with a revival of Super Junior. We decided to title it 'The Renaissance' with the purpose of showing you Super Junior's music.”

When talking about their achievement for staying as a solid group for almost two decades, the members each commented on the secret to their success.

Heechul said, “Wouldn't it be our consistent contract renewals? Realistically, if our agencies were different, our schedules might not match up.”

Leeteuk then commented, “I think there are a lot of secrets to our longevity. Our contracts are obviously one, but since our members all promote diligently on their own, we've been receiving love for a long time.”

Speaking of promotions, members Yesung, Ryeowook, and Kyuhyun were recently featured in ODG's YouTube channel where they were paired with kids to review their careers in a nutshell.

While the vocalists tried to explain each of their hit songs, member Kyuhyun couldn't help but tease his older members as they appear on the screen.

Yesung took a more explanatory approach as he discusses the contribution of Super Junior to the K-pop industry.

He said at one point, “This is the team where 'hanryu' (Korean wave) originated from. Super Junior opened up the new phase.”

The vocalist also reflected, “When I think about it now, actually, winning the grand prize, the first place, and getting more famous, those aren't so meaningful anymore. I just wish that we could be together and happier for a long time while enjoying the moments as a group.”
