Over 105,053 Koreans have signed a petition asking to cancel the production of upcoming K-drama Snowdrop, starring actor Jung Hae-in and BLACKPINK member Jisoo.

This petition came after K-drama Joseon Exorcist was canceled due to allegations of historical distortion. Viewers criticized the show for its historical inaccuracies sych as using Chinese-style props and food.

Koreans have filed the petition against Snowdrop on the official website of the Office of Korean President Moon Jae-in. Citizens reacted to the way the series is depicting the male lead role, Im Soo-ho.

The petitioners describe the plot as "apologism" for the South Korean spy agency. The agency was known for torturing and even killing student activists during South Korea's democractic movement period.

Snowdrop is set in Seoul in the year 1987 which was a historical year for student activism and democratic movements.

Jung Hae-in will play the role of Im Soo-ho, a graduate student who participates in a protest and later hides in a women's university dormitory. Jisoo will play the character of Eun Young-cho, a woman who finds Im Soo-ho and hides him. The pair develop a romantic relationship during the time of political upheaval.

Other cast members include actors like Jang Seung Jo, Yoon Se Ah, Kim Hye Yoon, and Jung Eugene.

In November 2020, filming for Snowdrop was suspended after a supporting actor was confirmed to have had close contact with a COVID-19 positive patient.

Jung Hae-in starred in dramas such as While You Were Sleeping, One Spring Night, and Something in the Rain.

Meanwhile, Jisoo has been with BLACKPINK since the band's debut in 2016 and is making her debut as a lead actress after previously starring in cameo roles for Arthdal Chronicles and The Producers.
