SHINee's Taemin drops music video for new single 'Advice'

By Michelle Caligan

SHINee's Taemin proves once again why he deserves to be called the Idol's Idol as he delivers another breathtaking performance in the music video of his latest solo single 'Advice.'

The song is off his third mini album of the same title, which was released today, May 18.

According to a press release, “Advice” is an R&B track “with a grand atmosphere that contains a warning to those who judge their opponents by stereotypes. Taemin's sharp singing rap, which expresses his cynical feelings, added charm.”

He shares in an interview with Naver, “I think it's a song where you can meet my unique character. It was hard because my mouth couldn't move fast when I recorded, but I think I'll be able to show you a new side of me.”

Meanwhile, the choreography emphasized Taemin's charisma, with hand gestures that complement the song's message.

As expected, Shawols were floored with Taemin's visuals, voice, and dance moves.

Taemin first performed 'Advice' during his solo online concert “Beyond Live - Taemin: Never Gonna Dance Again” on May 2, which was streamed by 90,000 viewers from 119 countries.

Prior to this, he and his SHINee members Onew, Key, and Minho also held their “Beyond Live: SHINee World” concert on April 4, where they performed “Atlantis,” the title track of the repackaged version of their seventh studio album.

SHINee will be celebrating their 13th anniversary on Tuesday, May 25, via a special broadcast on their NAVER VLive channel at 7:00 pm (Philippine time). Titled “SHINee Day,” the online party is the group's gift to fans for their unwavering love and support over the years and will be composed of performances, games, and a Q&A portion.

“Advice” will be Taemin's last solo release and “SHINee Day” will be his last activity with SHINee before he enlists in the military on May 31. He is the last SHINee member to undergo South Korea's mandatory military service and is expected to be discharged in November 2022.

Taemin is SM Entertainment's first soloist from an active idol group, having debuted as a solo artist in 2014 with the song “Danger.”

“Advice” is now available on all digital streaming platforms. Aside from the title track, four other songs are included in the album, namely “Light,” “Strings,” “SAD KIDS,” and “If I Could Tell You,” which features Girls' Generation's Taeyeon.
