By Ron Lim

If you're one of the many people who became obsessed with Squid Game over the past few months, then you're in luck. The hit show is going to have a second season, according to its director, Hwang Dong-hyuk.

He made the announcement during an interview with the Associated Press, explaining that all the attention the show has gotten leaves him and the cast and crew “no choice.”

While nothing is set in stone yet, the only thing the director could promise is that Lee Jung-jae's character, Seong Gi-hun, would be back in the second season.

“It's in my head right now. I'm in the planning process currently. But I do think it's too early to say when and how that's going to happen. So I will promise you this, Gi-hun will be back and he'll do something for the world,” explained Hwang.

With 111 million Netflix subscribers watching the show over the course of a month, Squid Game has made huge stars out of its ensemble cast.

Model-turned-actress Jung Ho Yeon is now a Louis Vuitton global ambassador and has seen the number of her Instagram followers balloon to 23.4 million followers.

Her co-stars Lee Jung-jae and Park Hae-soo also crossed milestones on their respective Instagram accounts. As of this writing, Lee Jung-jae has 4.3 million Instagram followers, with his latest post with Leonardo di Caprio earning more than 400,000 likes. Meanwhile, Park Hae-soo has 2.7 million followers.

Another sign that Squid Game has truly ingrained itself in pop culture is the amount of Squid Game costumes that were worn during Halloween.
