By Ron Lim

Binibining Pilipinas Intercontinental Gabrielle Basiano ends her Miss Intercontinental journey in the top 20, with Miss Vietnam Le Nguyen Bao Ngoc taking home the crown instead.

In a post on the Binibining Pilipinas Instagram account, the organization congratulated Gabrielle for the Top 20 finish as well as for raising the flag of the country. The caption then ended with the organization maintaining that they were proud of Gabrielle.

In the comment section of the post, Gabrielle's supporters and fellow beauty queens consoled her.

Miss Tourism World Intercontinental Francesca Taruc and former Miss Universe Philippines MJ Lastimosa were two of the queens who expressed their pride at Gabrielle's performance.

Before the coronation night, Gabrielle had proudly shown off both her evening gown and her national costume for the competition.

In an Instagram post on the day of the competition, Gabrielle shared a gown inspired by a famous Filipina supervillain designed by Ken Batino and Jevin Salaysay and called on her Instagram followers to “stand tall and show the world what you are made of.”

Her national costume, on the other hand, was inspired by the Ibong Adarna of Philippine folklore and dubbed “LUNAS/CURE.”

Days before the competition, Gabrielle posted about her participation in the Miss Intercontinental swimsuit competition, and asked Filipinos to lend her their support and prayers in the final stretch of the competition, and thanked those who have supported her journey so far.

The next Filipina beauty queen participating in an international pageant is Binibining Pilipinas Globe Chelsea Fernandez, who will compete in the Miss Globe pageant in Albania later today, hoping to succeed current reigning Miss Globe Maureen Montagne. She recently won the pageant's head-to-head competition.

Meanwhile, Binibining Pilipinas Grand International Roberta Tamondong will compete for the Miss Grand International crown on October 25.
