Senator Chiz Escudero mourns the death of his ninong Roberto Ongpin

The Philippine business community mourns the death of business tycoon Roberto 'Bobby' Ongpin yesterday night, February 4.

In a report by GMA News Online, Roberto's nephew Apa Ongpin confirmed with them that the chairman of Alphaland Corporation passed away in his sleep in Balesin island.

Apa added, “He is survived by his wife, Monica Arellano, his children, Stephen, Anna, Michelle and Julian, and four grandchildren, two of whom he got to play with before he went to sleep last night,”

Ongpin is one of the principal sponsors in the star-studded wedding of Heart Evangelista and Senator Francis “Chiz” Escudero in 2015.

Meanwhile, Sen. Chiz took to Instagram to offer his condolences to the Ongpin family. Likewise, his wife Heart expressed her sadness by posting a crying emoji on its comment section.

The senator wrote, “My sincerest condolences to the family and loved ones of Roberto “Bobby” Ongpin or simply “RVO” to many. Rest in Peace my friend. You will be missed”
