Miss Universe Philippines teases two new crowns to be won in pageant

By Ron Lim

Contestants who will be competing in the Miss Universe Philippines pageant won't just be vying for the opportunity to represent the country in the Miss Universe pageant, but in two other international pageants as well.

The Miss Universe Philippines organization teased as much in their more recent Instagram post, where they posted a photo of the current “La Mer en Majeste” crown and two other crowns in the background. In the caption to the post, the organization said that there are now “three prestigious crowns at stake” and that “three exceptional women” will “dazzle the universe on the global stage.”

The comments on the post, however, seem to be opposed to the Miss Universe Philippines taking on new crowns, citing the organization's previous statements about not adding crowns as well as bringing up their supposed lack of care for the current Miss Universe Philippines franchise.

The announcement of the two new crowns to be won comes after the Miss Universe Philippines organization announced that they would extend their application deadline anew. Applicants can still send in their applications until a week from now on February 14. This is the second extension the organization has made, as they had previously extended the application deadline to February 5.

The current reigning Miss Universe Philippines 2022 is Celeste Cortesi, who came back to the country late in January after she finished participating in the 2022 Miss Universe pageant.

Based on her Instagram account, Celeste has been spending her time post-Miss Universe at the Burgos Reef Boutique Resort in Padre Burgos, Southern Leyte. In the caption to one of her posts, Celeste described the location as “a little paradise.”
