Derek Ramsay on Ellen Adarna: 'She's the girl I want to spend the rest of my life with.'

Kapuso hunk Derek Ramsay and Ellen Adarna looked happy and very much in love in their latest television appearance.

The couple sat down via video call with reporter Nelson Canlas of the news program, 24 Oras, where they shared more details about their relationship.

“I just met him in person [in] January. Hindi ko pa siya na-meet before, never pa kaming nagkita in person,” Ellen told Nelson.

“When I see his pictures, hindi naman siya pangit. Guwapo, but ok lang,” joked Ellen.

That all changed when she finally met Derek face-to-face early this year.

“My jaw dropped,” Ellen described that moment.

Derek and Ellen confirmed their relationship last February 26 in an interview with an entertainment news website.

Before the admission, speculations - fuelled by Derek and Ellen themselves - were rife that the two were dating based on their pictures and videos posted on social media.

“I'm super at peace,” Derek told Nelson.

“We're both alphas, super alphas, very strong personalities. But when we're together, it's calm.”

As for their previous relationships, Ellen said that she's still in touch with actor John Lloyd Cruz. Their communication though is centered only on matters that concern their son, Elias.

“We talk, we talk about Elias. I don't know about his personal affairs. When I talk to him it's about our son. He's a good father,” she said fondly of John Lloyd.

Derek's case is the complete opposite as he and ex-flame Andrea Torres are not on speaking terms after parting ways in November last year.

“You know me Nelson, I don't have any ill feelings towards any of my exes. It's sad that we haven't really spoken since the breakup,” Derek said.

“In all honesty, I have no regrets about whatever happened between Andrea and I. There was no third party, nobody intentionally tried to hurt anyone. There was just, I guess, differences between the both of us that we couldn't handle.”

For now, Derek and Ellen are just enjoying their time together as they get to know more of each other.

“Before I think I've been very vocal about it na ayoko talaga magpakasal. I want a kid, a baby, [but] I can't imagine myself being married,” Ellen said when asked about the idea of settling down.

But the pair do discuss marriage, something that might surprise those who stereotyped Derek and Ellen as commitment-phobic.

“We talk about it,” Ellen smiled.

“Sobrang kumportable kaming mag-usap ng mga bagay na would definitely make us tensed in the past,” Derek butted in.

“'Di ba may reputation ako na ayokong magpakasal, na ako 'yong lalaking ayaw magpakasal? I've always been vocal na, no, I want to. I'm just not rushing it kasi I want to find the right person. And talking about the future and talking about them [marriage] word seems so natural like I have no fear.”

So, did Derek find the right person in Ellen Adarna?

“The word is natural and we wanted to be as natural as [we] can be. But I'll be lying to you, to myself, and to everyone if I didn't say that she's the girl I want to spend the rest of my life with,” Derek said in closing.
