Ashley Ortega, pressured with her first big break on 'Hearts On Ice'

By Kristian Eric Javier

With the newest teleserye Hearts On Ice being her first big project, Sparkle star Ashley Ortega could not help but feel the pressure from the people that will be watching the series.

However, despite the long wait, the actress is still excited to star in the series, saying that waiting for this role was “all worth it in the end.”

In her interview on the Updated with Nelson Canlas podcast, Ashley said that with her role as a figure skater in the series, she's happily enjoying the “best of both worlds” with acting and skating.

Despite this though, Ashley admitted that she still felt the pressure for her first project.

“Especially this is my first big project talagang yung pressure rin kakaiba, so lahat ng mga tao mataas ang expectations sa akin,” she said.

Ashley was a professional figure skater before she became an actress, and even competed in local and international competitions. Despite this though, she felt that her skills as a figure skater is “malayo yung level” compared to some of her co-actors, like Skye Chua and Olympic figure skater Michael Martinez.

However, despite Direk Dominic Zapata reassuring her and telling her not to worry, seeing other people excited and proud of her only made her feel more nervous.

When she was asked why, she answered, “I don't know how to react na puwede bang i-delay muna for a while 'yung pag ere or kailangan iere para matapos na agad.”

“So the pressure is there, pero ayoko masyadong itatak sa utak ko na 'What if I did something wrong,' I just want to enjoy the whole process,” she added.

“Medyo kinakabahan lang talaga 'cause it's something really big and special for me and I'm doing it at the same time. Launching tapos figure skating but at the same time nakaka-excite siya.”

Ashley also revealed that they usually shoot at midnight or the graveyard shift but despite the schedule, she said that “it doesn't really feel like work kasi it's a happy set.”
