In an interview with Aubrey Carampell on Chika Minute, Andrea said that she felt “kilig” when she read the positive comments about the October 18 episode of the series where her character, Sisa, first appeared.
Kapuso actress Andrea Torres could not help but gush and smile as she read the positive reactions to the episode and her character as it appeared in the hit fantasy-portal series Maria Clara at Ibarra.
In an interview with Aubrey Carampell on Chika Minute, Andrea said that she felt “kilig” when she read the positive comments about the October 18 episode of the series where her character, Sisa, first appeared.
“Kahapon, nagshu-shoot ako, whole day, ang sarap ng pakiramdam na gabing-gabi na tapos nakita ko 'yung mga comments nila, napapangiti ako. 'Di ko talaga ma-control. Alam mo 'yung parang kilig,” she said.
Andrea plays the role of Sisa, the loving mom of Crispin and Basilio who works at the church for Padre Salvi, played by Juancho Trivino. In the novel "Noli Me Tangere" which the series is partially based on, Sisa loses her mind because of the death of one of her children which Klay, played by Barbie Forteza, warns her about.
Andrea admits that while it's challenging to play the role of Sisa, she's also thankful to be given the opportunity to play the role. She also said that she wants to show a deeper side of Sisa, and not just someone mentally deranged.
“Gusto ko, bukod sa nakikita nilang nabaliw siya, 'yung maramdaman nila 'yung puso ni Sisa. Makita nila kung bakit nangyari 'yun sa kanya. Maka-relate 'yung mga mothers,” she said.
She also added that she wanted the kids watching the series to be more appreciative of their moms.
This is not the first time that Maria Clara at Ibarra and its cast gained recognition. Previously, Barbie, Dennis Trillo, who plays Crisostomo Ibarra, Julie Ann San Jose who plays Maria Clara, and David Licauco who plays Fidel gained recognition and praise for their performance in the series.
