Janine Gutierrez shares garbage segregation and recycling hacks

By Racquel Quieta

Being a domesticated diva doesn't end with just knowing how to clean your place. Nowadays, being mindful about reducing waste at home should also be top priority. So, waste segregation and recycling should also be part of any homeowner's routine.

Janine Gutierrez shares tips on how to be a domesticated diva

Everyone knows that Kapuso star and fashionista Janine Gutierrez is a certified independent woman. When she's not making us emotional in her drama series or turning heads here and abroad with her stylish OOTDs, Janine is busy making sure her condo unit is spick and span.

But aside from merely cleaning and organizing her stuff, Janine is a big advocate of proper waste segregation and recycling.

In a recent episode of Mars Pa More, Janine showed her garbage area, which contains two trash bins: one for biodegradables and another one for non-biodegradables.

However, that's not the only garbage storage that Janine has, as she also has a special bin dedicated for recyclable plastics.

Janine revealed that she turns over most of the plastic containers that she collects to a recycler, and what she does with other plastics is that she cuts them up and puts them in a plastic bottle to make ecobricks.

Ecobricks are used as construction materials for eco-friendly houses or other structures. It's a great way to repurpose plastics and prevent them from ending up in landfills or oceans where they can cause pollution and injure or kill marine life.

Janine also advises everyone to reuse the plastics and boxes used as packaging for the things people buy on online shopping platforms.

She suggested for them to be used as storage for random things at home like rags, towels, and other stuff.

Janine also advised to store reusable plastic bags in one container so they will be organized and easy to find when you need them.

You can watch Janine demonstrate how to make a plastic bag holder in the Mars Pa More video above.
