Jen Rosendahl shows the 'new normal' in her food business

By Racquel Quieta

Like many business owners, Kapuso actress and entrepreneur Jen Rosendahl has had to make major adjustments in the operations of her food business, Charlie's Grind and Grill, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In a recent episode of Mars Pa More, Jen showed how her restaurant has adapted to the 'new normal' when it comes to food business operations.

At the moment, Jen's restaurant is open to take orders for take-out, pick-up, and delivery.

But customers may also opt to park-and-dine, just like what her loyal customers do, since they miss eating out so much.

As for the cleanliness and safety measures, they have a foot bath and a hands-free alcohol dispenser in the entrance of their resto, so guests and delivery riders can sanitize their shoes and hands.

They also strictly implement a “no face mask, no entry” policy and they have a designated waiting area with chairs arranged to ensure social distancing.

According to Jen, they disinfect all the surfaces in their restaurant every hour to make sure they're clean.

Their kitchen staff also wear face masks, face shields, and gloves to prevent contamination of the food they are preparing.

As a final touch, once the food is packed, Jen runs through a UV light to disinfect the paper bag.

Personally, Jen applies alcohol in her hands every time she comes from outside because she says, “Alcohol is life.”

She also revealed that they don't use the air-con at the moment in order to save on their power bill, and more importantly, to prevent the virus from spreading.

Jen said despite the challenges, their food business still manages to pull though amid the pandemic.

“In all fairness to my loyal customers, nandiyan pa rin sila. Surviving pa naman.”
