Pop Talk: Michelin-starred restaurants in Manila

When it comes to food, it doesn't have to be just delicious but it also has to live up to its hype.

That's why in the culinary world restaurants are aiming for the coveted Michelin Star --- the creme de la creme of culinary accolades.

A Michelin star is a rating system developed in the 1900s to show French drivers where local amenities such as restaurants and mechanics were. The star system was then introduced years later in 1926 and 1933 thus leading to the conception of the Michelin Guide.

According to the Guide, one star signifies “a very good restaurant,” two stars are “excellent cooking that is worth a detour,” and three stars mean “exceptional cuisine that is worth a special journey.”

There are about 137 restaurants with 3 Michelin stars based on the 2019 Michelin Guide.

Currently, Japan holds the record of 29 restaurants with 3 Michelin stars in their belt.

Unfortunately, with the coronavirus pandemic, it seems like traveling to these countries will have to wait. Luckily, some of these restaurants have found their way to our shores making it easier for us to try.

Here are three Michelin-starred restaurants that are Pop Talk approved:
