Residents and authorities in areas along the track of Typhoon Rolly [Goni] are advised to prepare for the the typhoon's onslaught.
Based on the latest weather forecast of PAGASA, Typhoon Rolly has maintained its strength while moving west-southwestward towards the Bicol Region.
It is expected to pass very close to Catanduanes, which may experience winds greater than 121 kph up to 170 kph in at least 18 hours.
Typhoon Rolly is also expected to pass to the Calaguas Islandsand to mainland Camarines Provinces on Sunday morning, and over Polillo Islands and mainland Quezon on Sunday afternoon.
Meanwhile, in preparation for heavy rains and strong winds, here are some tips to consider:
1. Charge all gadgets; cell phones, tablet, laptops and other gadgets for communication.
2. Use them wisely. Avoid unnecessary calls. Use SMS. Expect weak or no signal as cell sites may be down.
3. Replace batteries on your flashlights and make sure to keep a spare for prolonged brownouts;
4. Your AM/ FM battery-operated radios may be your best source for news. Tune in to DZBB 594 GMA radio and watch weather updates on GMA News.
5. Relieve your refrigerators and freezers as power may be off for a few days. You have now until Sunday evening to do it. Consume food items that spoil easily. Stock ready to eat food.
6. Have your LPGs ready and refill your spare tanks.
7. Have an adequate supply of drinking water and fill pails for your bathroom use.
1. Dismantle all temporary structures. Take down your parols and Christmas lights.
2. Keep safe all items outside of the house specially in your dirty kitchens.
3. Empty your sampayans.
4. Reinforce your plants. Plants on balconies should be brought inside .
5. Secure all unstable items in your open garage and garden. If needed, reinforce unsteady roofing like polycarbonate by placing hollow blocks or sand bags on top.
