Say hello to Kapuso girl group XOXO on GMA Playlist
Catch and sing along with the versatile quartet composed of The Clash contenders Riel, Lyra, Dani, and Mel.
The all-female quartet XOXO is set to takeover GMA Playlist this Wednesday, June 30, at 1 p.m.
Composed of The Clash contenders Riel, Lyra, Dani, and Mel, the Kapuso girl group was officially launched in August 2019.
“Ang meaning po ng XOXO is 'hugs and kisses...' since friends po kami, naisip nila na gumawa ng grupo na mag-i-evoke ng friendship, sincerity, faith, love at women empowerment,” said Riel in a past interview.
The group's versatility - individually and collectively - shows in their ability to shift seamlessly from OPM, ballad, pop, R&B, and Broadway.
“Over the course of the training po kasi we've learned how to be different in a way but still be united. We bring something different to the table but once we are united together, may harmony,” explained Riel.
Dani added, “Kung sa bosesan lang po, iba-iba po kami ng mga genres, so 'pag pinagsabay-sabay po kami, mas buo po 'yung make-create na sound.”
XOXO recently displayed that versatility with their cover of SB19's heartwarming ballad, “Mapa.”
The cover was unveiled on Father's Day, June 20, to positive reviews.
