While other collegiate stars decided to make the jump to the PBA, Justin Arana has chosen to stay at Arellano University for his final year at the NCAA.
According to Chino Trinidad's report on "24 Oras," the reigning Defensive Player of the Year is keeping his focus on helping his team chase success in the country's oldest collegiate league.
"Ang nasa mindset ko po kasi talaga 'yung PBA po kasi kung para sa akin 'yan nandyan na lang kasi yan e. Pero 'yung college po kasi minsan lang talaga, like five years lang," he said. "Kaya sulitin ko na po talaga 'yung last year kasi sayang din."
Arana is not in a rush to dip his feet in the professional circuit this year, preferring instead to hone his skills with another season of collegiate hoops.
"Mas kailangan ko pa ng experience sa college, kailangan kong magpahinog lalo pa para pag akyat ko po ng PBA mas matured na po 'yung laro ko," he said.
The big man is looking help his team improve their performance in the NCAA. The Chiefs finished last season at the bottom of the standings with a 4-14 record.
"Kailangan ko po talaga mag-step up ngayon kaya kailangan ko ma-improve 'yung pagiging leader ko para ma-lead 'yung team ko sa kung ano man 'yung goal namin," he said.
