‘Rise Up Stronger: The Road to NCAA Season 96’ dives into famous NCAA rivalries

NCAA is best known for its storied rivalries and hosts Martin Javier and Sophia Senoron revisited some of those on Friday’s episode of ‘Rise Up Stronger: The Road to NCAA Season 96’.

Basketball standouts Baser Amer of the San Beda University and Bong Quinto of Colegio de San Juan de Letran recalled their heated on-court duel, especially during the 2015 NCAA Finals where the Knights spoiled the Red Lions’ six-peat bid.

But come the pro ranks, the two got together as teammates as part of the Meralco Bolts in the PBA.

But it’s not only in basketball that rivalries are born, in the NCAA Cheerleading Competition, two schools are at the top of mind: Arellano University and University of Perpetual Help System DALTA.

Perpetual Perpsquad has won nine titles, which is the most among all competing teams, while Arellano copped four including the last three editions.

The show also launched the ‘PepTok Cheering Battle’ where representatives from each school will perform a dance choreography by judge Jhuven Aguilan. Janelle Mojica of San Sebastian College-Recoletos was the first batch winner while Jaffrey Marquez was the second.

Watch GMA Synergy's 'Rise Up Stronger: The Road to NCAA Season 96' every weekday (2:45 p.m.), Saturdays (4:30 p.m.), and Sundays (5:05 p.m.) on GTV.
