JRU’s Darius Estrella preaches loyalty - in personal life or in sports

Whether in his romantic side or athletic life, Darius Estrella always makes sure he’s loyal.

Estrella, a shooting guard for the Jose Rizal University, has been with the school since his high school days and was even named the Most Valuable Player in Season 90 juniors basketball.

And while the pandemic is wreaking havoc, Estrella said his relationship with beau Roxanne Baeyens, the reigning Miss Philippines Earth 2020, has just gotten stronger than ever.

And key to both were trust and loyalty, said the budding cager.

“The school was the one who gave me the opportunity to play the game I love so this is my way of repaying them--with my loyalty,” Estrella said on  'Rise Up Stronger: The Road to NCAA Season 96' on Sunday.

Estrella is a key cog in JRU basketball, especially in Season 95 where they wound up in eighth place with a 5-13 win-loss record. He's currently making the best out of the extended lull to get better so that once the league returns, he’s ready.

The 6-foot-2 athlete also shared about his flourishing relationship with his beauty queen girlfriend, who has been supportive of Estrella in his endeavors as a basketball player. And Estrella stressed it goes both ways.

“I think we always support each other and we just know our priorities,” he added.

“This kind of situation really made us stronger. We understand what we lack.”
