While the pandemic disrupted the plans and livelihood of some people, including athletes, Emilio Aguinaldo College (EAC) Generals team captain and point guard Marwin Taywan resorted to what he's best at in order to make ends meet: creating plays for teammates and providing leadership.
Taywan shared that during this difficult time, he and his wife, a culinary graduate, decided to build their own small-scale food business to provide for the needs of their child.
And his experience playing his position on the court, according to Taywan, played a big role in this endeavor as he learned how to run the business with his family.
"Being a point guard, I learned to pass and assist them. And also [I learned to use] my leadership," Taywan shared on Chino Trinidad's 24 Oras report on Friday.
Taywan also shared that the new normal brought by the COVID-19 pandemic has been taking a toll on him but stressed he feels the need to fight for the sake of his family, the same thing he does when on the court.
"My family, especially my baby, is really my inspiration to keep on fighting," shared the NCAA standout.
"Sometimes, you will really experience mental breakdown and stress but I just keep on fighting. That's the foundation."
