After two early defeats, EAC coach Oliver Bunyi heaves sigh of relief as Generals pluck first win

Out of the past two heartbreaking losses of Emilio Aguinaldo College at the hands of Mapua University and San Beda University in the NCAA Season 97 — neither came without a fight.

Against the Cardinals, EAC was able to build a lead as big as 60-51 in the fourth quarter before falling in the end game while the Generals gave the Red Lions a good scare by keeping pace with the Season 95 runners-up.

However, EAC just couldn't find the closer they needed as they went to a 0-2 hole early in the tournament.

Despite these setbacks, EAC received praise from their opponents with San Beda head coach Boyet Fernandez even complimenting the Oliver Bunyi-mentored squad.

Bunyi said they won't settle for just giving their opponents a good game.

"It's a sigh of relief for us [kasi] maraming tao were telling us after our games against Mapua and SBU na sabi nila 'good game, good game'," Bunyi shared in the post-game interview.

"But we didn't accept it like we're gonna be satisfied with that because a good game is always a won game. 'Yun ang para sa amin."

Bunyi said they will learn plenty of lessons from their recent 70-69 win over the Lyceum of the Philippines University on Saturday as they eye to march to the Final Four after a 4-14 win-loss record in Season 95.

"Actually mas marami kaming matututunan sa larong 'to na nanalo kami kumpara doon sa natalo kami against Mapua and SBU."
