Coach Randy Alcantara glad Mapua picked up important win ahead of clash with heavyweight Letran

Mapua University head coach Randy Alcantara was on a bit of a high as his wards picked up their third straight victory in NCAA Season 97 before they gear up for a clash with also undefeated Colegio de San Juan de Letran.

The Cardinals on Tuesday edged the San Sebastian College-Recoletos Stags, 65-59, to join early leaders Letran and San Beda University atop the standings with identical 3-0 cards.

But their unblemished record will be put to the test on Friday when Mapua goes up against the defending champion Knights.

Alcantara, although beaming with optimism, knows they have a tall task ahead of them in preparing for Letran, which is equally eager to enter the Final Four en route to the championship.

But he added that that's not anything new, considering their approach to this season.
