College of Saint Benilde shoots for its fifth straight win as it tangles with Jose RIzal University Tuesday in the NCAA men's basketball tournament at the La Salle Green Hills Gym.
First-year coach Charles Tiu hopes that the Blazers will not to fall into trap of complacency in the 3 p.m. match with the last-placed Bombers.
"I don’t seem them as a winless team. They have had games they probably deserved to win or should have won," said Tiu. "They are a tough physical team with talented players and very well coached."
With a third-best 4-1 card, CSB is very much into the race for the two outright Final Four berths as it only trails unbeaten squads Letran and San Beda by half-a-game.
The Knights and the Red Lions were supposed to play in the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader, but the league last week moved the rematch of the 2019 Finals on April 29.
For Tiu, all he wants for the Blazers is to improve every game.
"We just take it one game at a time without looking at the standings. We just do our best every game and hopefully the results will follow," said Tiu.
Already potent with Robi Nayve, Will Gozum and AJ Benson, CSB turned to Miggy Corteza in last Saturday's 83-73 win over University of Perpetual Help System Dalta.
Jason Celis had a season-high 26 points but his efforts were not enough as JRU fell to 0-5 following a 65-80 loss to Emilio Aguinaldo College last Saturday.
Action resumes Wednesday before the Holy Week break at the same Mandaluyong venue, as San Sebastian and EAC collide at 12 noon, followed by the 3 p.m. match between Mapua and Perpetual.
