Mapua University definitely made it rain against the University of Perpetual Help System DALTA after the Cardinals dropped 16 triples en route to a 95-83 victory in the NCAA Season 97 on Wednesday.
They knocked down 16 out of 25 attempts for an impressive 64-percent clip from the outside. Most of those came in a first half barrage where they shot 12-for-18 (66.7-percent) on threes as they built a 54-28 halftime lead.
And head coach Randy Alcantara shared how they got their shots going against the Altas.
Toby Agustin hit five triples to finish with a career-high 24 points while Brian Lacap shot a perfect 4-for-4 from beyond the arc. Five other Cardinals connected on threes as Mapua snapped its two-game losing skid and improved to 4-2.
It didn't come easy, though, as they squandered leads of as big as 28 points, but they still came up on top against a game Perpetual squad equally eager to add a notch to their win column.
Alcantara praised his players for pulling out the win despite the Altas' rally.
