Three games into the NCAA Season 98, Will Gozum is playing at a level worthy of MVP consideration.
But the 6-foot-6 forward deflected all the credit, saying it has been a team effort that has been crucial to De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde's 3-0 start.
"So far happy naman ako sa nangyayari, 'yung team chemistry namin mas bini-build pa namin and happy ako na nagpapakita kami lahat and tulong-tulong kami," Gozum said after their 81-64 win over University of Perpetual Help System DALTA on Tuesday.
"Happy ako. Pero gaya ng sinasabi ni Coach Charles (Tiu) sa amin, gusto niya ng championship. So 'yung team naman same page kami doon."
In their first two games, Gozum posted averages of 17.5 points, 8.0 rebounds, 2.5 blocks, and 1.5 assists to steer the Blazers to wins against Lyceum and San Sebastian.
Gozum continued to prove he's a double-double threat, pouring in 16 markers, 12 boards, two assists, and two blocks against the Altas as they cruised to their third win in as many games.
His admits his job is easier, though, when his other teammates are playing well, and he has gotten that boost from guys like Miggy Corteza, Robi Nayve, Migs Oczon, and skipper JC Cullar so far this season.
"For me, mas napapadali sa akin kasi andon 'yung mga shooters ko, 'yung mga teammates ko, and mas pinapadali nila 'yung work ko," he said.
"Mas happy ako na hindi lang ako, nakakatulong din lahat."
