Colegio de San Juan de Letran reasserted its mastery of University of Perpetual Help System DALTA with a 74-59 drubbing in the NCAA Season 98 on Tuesday.
Brent Paraiso led all scorers with 16 points alongside seven rebounds and three assists while Louie Sangalang logged 10 points, 10 boards, an assist, a steal, and a block for the Knights.
King Caralipio and Kurt Reyson both chipped in with nine markers while Pao Javillonar also had a big game with eight points and 12 big rebounds.
Three-peat seeking Letran cruised to its fourth win in a row to improve to 7-3 while dealing Perpetual its third consecutive loss as it dropped to 4-6.
Letran opened the payoff period with a 9-0 rampage, 59-40, before Paraiso knocked down back-to-back triples to send the Knights to a 67-43 cushion in the final 3:59.
Prior to that, Letran was leading by 10 at the end of the third.
The ALTAs tried to make a last-gasp comeback as Jielo Razon and Rey Barcuma powered a 16-7 closing run. Letran, though, held on to bag the victory.
Letran led by 11 to end the first, 22-11, but Perpetual was able to pull to within to five at the half, 37-32, after the Altas outscored the Knights, 21 to 15, in the second period behind Razon and John Abis.
With Reyson firing two huge triples in the third, Letran established a 13-point cushion, 47-34, before Cyrus Nitura fueled a personal 6-3 run as Perpetual still trailed, 50-40, to close out the frame.
But a stronger fourth quarter saw Letran pull away for good.
Razon scored 13 points to lead Perpetual while Barcuma added 11.
